When we first heard that my dad was terminally ill we began making arrangements for his care. My mom said she wasn’t able to take care of dad at home; it was just too much for her to handle. She is 5 foot and weighs 95 pounds. My mom thought the best choice for them was to look into Long Term Care (LTC), since they have Medicare and Tricare for life. When she told me what she wanted to do, I was sure Medicare and Tricare for life did not cover LTC. We made an appointment with the hospital administrator to go over some of our options for my dad’s care. I thought my mom was going to have a heart attack when she was told that Medicare and Tricare for Life did not cover for LTC. She was a surprised to hear how costly LTC had become. Tricare LTC.
